The town consisted of merchants shops, warehouses and a cotton gin. There was little sign of a residential area for the town. Large areas of Lake Kioga are swamp. In this view the swamp fringes the lake shore. There were number of ferries enabling car and foot passengers to cross the lake. My impression from numerous ferry crossings was that Lake Kioga was mostly swamp with limited areas of open water.
